DescriptionThis extract of William's will focuses, in particular, on the recipients of his goods and finances: the effects at Bushy House will be given to his wife, Queen Consort Adelaide, together with her jewels; all the live and dead stock and the surplus balance of Account in the Home Park, in Windsor, will go to the executors of his will. He, then, orders to change all stocks funds, securities, and policies of assurance, for money so that to pay off all the King's debts and legacies, and then to divide the remaining money in nine equal parts. Four of them should be divided between his male children: George Augustus Frederick FitzClarence, 1st Earl of Munster; Lieutenant-General Lord Frederick FitzClarence; Lord Adolphus FitzClarence; Lord Augustus FitzClarence. Another ninth should be invested in or upon Real or Government Securities or in some of the Public Funds to stand possessed thereof the three daughters of Sophia Sidney, Baroness De L'Isle and Dudley [Sophia, William's daughter died just a few months before on 10 April 1837] (Adelaide Augusta Willhelmina Sydney; Ernestine Wellington Sidney; Sophia Philippa Sidney) for their maintenance and education until they reach adult age. The following four ninth parts should be invested in securities or funds.
At the very end of the document, William declares that he will leave all additions made to The Royal Collection, The Royal Libraries, the China Glass and Furniture belonging to the Crown and other personal property not before bequeathed upon the Trust, to his executors [Sir Herbert Taylor, Sir Henry Wheatley and Colonel Thomas Wood) to "be enjoyed by His Majesty's Successors for ever".
