TitleLetter from the Duke of Clarence to George, Prince of Wales, regarding George FitzClarence
Date[?1808]
WriterClarence and St Andrews, William, Duke of
AddresseeGeorge, Prince of Wales (1762-1830)
DescriptionConsiderations about George's [Augustus Frederick FitzClarence] suitability to join the service - being already part of the Prince's Light Infantry. The Duke believes he is too young and Dalrymple [General William, Groom of the Bedchamber to the Duke of Clarence] thinks George should be given a Lieutenancy in another regiment - and the Duke agrees with him for one reason in particular: being too much focused on entering service, George neglected the college [R.M. College at Great Marlow]. He, therefore, needs to go back, apply himself and not think about the service.
