TitleInstructions from Frederick, Prince of Wales, to his son George, written at Leicester House
Date13 January 1749
WriterFrederick, Prince of Wales (1707-1751)
AddresseeGeorge, Prince (1738-1820)
DescriptionAt the beginning of this pamphlet Prince Frederick explains that these instructions are intended as guidance to his son George for how to conduct himself when he becomes King - and, as the title reads, they were inspired by ideas of Frederick's grandfather, George I.
Among the many pieces of advice, which range from how to be loved by the Electorate to the necessity of reducing the national debt, Prince Frederick suggests the future King should strive to obtain the separation of the Electorate of Hanover and the Crown of England - a plan which was already in George I's mind.
