Description | Copy of a letter from Colonel Grey to the Earl Granville reporting that Prince Albert had read Mr Redgrave's memorandum and approved of the suggestions made, particularly the use of 'Guides'. He also writes that the Prince asks Redgrave to further consider whether to have Sergeants or Superintendents in particular districts or railways. Grey also reports that the Prince is disappointed that the Commissioners cannot yet take possession of the building and is concerned that a delay may lead to foreign exhibitors thinking that there is an extension to the deadline for exhibits to be received in England. In post script he writes that Colonel Reid does not agree with Sappers and Miners being made Special Constables. |
