Date | 17 July 1854 |
Writer | Cole, Henry |
Addressee | Grey, Charles, Colonel |
Description | Letter from Henry Cole to Colonel Grey, offering to forward details of the estimated cost of the Paris Exhibition to Prince Albert and to enclose a copy to Parliament. He mentions that the exhibition may provide a good opportunity to promote the plans the Commission has for Kensington. He believes that British visitors to the exhibition, and to Paris, will be impressed with the city's many public works and therefore be 'disgusted' with London. He states that he hopes the war will soon be ended so that they can turn their attention to improving the London Metropolis. He also mentions plans to 'induce the Government' to preserve part of the Educational Exhibition and asks whether they could suggest Kensington. |
