DescriptionLetter from Henry Cole to General Grey enclosing papers relating to the purchase of the Bernal Collection. He advises that if the Government do not purchase the collection then the Commissioners should instead act so that it can be exhibited at Kensington, and prevent it from going to the British Museum. Enclosed with the letter is a printed letter from P. Le Neve Foster, Secretary of the Society of Arts, regarding a petition to prevent the collection being bought by the British Museum and therefore exhibited in London only.
