TitleLetter from Queen Adelaide to the Duchess of Cambridge
Date[?8 October 1849]
WriterAdelaide, Queen Dowager
AddresseeCambridge, Augusta, Duchess of
DescriptionAdelaide looks forward to seeing Augusta next Saturday, and asks what time to send a coach to the station to collect her. Ida [Adelaide's sister, of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach] and her daughters will receive them and do the honours for lunch if they arrive before she wants to be seen, since she eats alone. She replies frankly that it might be better if the Duke visited her on a different day, lest she be overwhelmed. It is sad that Queen Victoria has lost Mr George Anson so suddenly; he suffered a stroke and will be a great loss to her and Albert.
