AddresseePeel, Robert, Sir; Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
DescriptionCopy letter from Lord Mahon to Sir Robert Peel thanking him for forwarding papers [regarding the Fine Arts Commission]. He offers his own suggestions for the decoration of the House of Parliament, in reply to Henry Hallam's memorandum (see VIC/MAIN/F/29/46), stating that he disagrees with Hallam's suggestion that the artists should not be confined solely to British history. He instead asserts that there are plenty events and figures from British history from which the artists can choose.
