Letter from Sir Robert Peel to Charles Eastlake regarding the history of the Order of the Garter, in relation to Charles Cope's assertion that the Black Prince did not receive the order from his father, Edward III. He states that the historian Sir Harris Nicholas is mistaken in his research and as a result Peel advises that there should be no change in the original subject given to Charles Cope.
