| Description | 'Ninth Report of the Commissioners on the Fine Arts, with appendix. Presented to both Houses of Parliament by Command of Her Majesty', reporting that two frescoes by Daniel Maclise and Charles West Cope, in the House of Lords, had been completed. Also stating that a further four frescoes had been completed in the Upper Waiting Hall and that the Peers' Refreshment Rooms and the Prince's Chamber were ready to be decorated. It was recommended that Edwin Landseer be commissioned to decorate those rooms with oil paintings. They also report that the Lord Commissioners of The Treasury had, in the last session of Parliament, submitted an estimate of £4,000 expenditure.
