| Description | Article reporting the debate in the House of Commons and recording the vote on Sir D.L. Evans' proposal to reduce the expenditure on the Houses of Parliament by £1,050. He argues that the sum proposed by the Fine Arts Commission, in particular for the decoration of the Peers' Refreshment Rooms, is unreasonable. He states that the lighting in the room is not suitable for the display of artwork and that only the Peers, not members of the House of Commons and the public, would have access to the room. It is recorded his proposal is passed with a 94 to 75 majority of the votes. |
