| Description | Augusta writes to update his brother [who is travelling to Göttingen where he will go to the university] on the whereabouts of the rest of the family: William, who came back from sailing, is well and as cheerful as ever, praising the greatness of the British navy; Ernest and Adolphus will soon be in Hanover; Adolphus (nicknamed "Dolly Dowsy") wrote asking after Augustus. The new Imperial Minister Count Stadion [Johann Philipp Carl Joseph, Graf von Stadion-Warthausen] told Augusta the Emperor and Empress [Leopold II and Infanta Maria Luisa of Spain] had a very positive impression of Augustus when they met him [in Pisa]. She believes that "England never stood higher in the Opinion of the Universe than it does now". She informs Augustus of the most recent works done around the house, in particular, the construction of a kennel. Augusta will send this letter with Baron Alvensleben [Hanoverian Minister in London] and not by normal post so that to keep its privacy. |
