| Notes | The original letter is GEO/ADD/28/122. The French transcription and English translation are on two halves of GEO/ADD/28/068. Both documents bear the circled number '51', which shows the order in which the original letter was bound.
At the bottom of the French transcription is a note 'this was writ when she was queen [sic]', and a separate slip attached to GEO/ADD/28/122 records 'when Queen'.
A note also identifies 'our freind' [sic] as being Mr Clayton.
The proposed date is suggested as this is when the Salt Tax was removed. |
